Absalom—the City at the center of the World—has stood for nearly 5,000 years, surviving more than a hundred sieges without ever falling. Nearly a dozen distinct districts crowd within its walls, many large enough to rival the capital of a smaller nation, while the wild reaches of Greater Kortos beyond the city hold ruins, bogs, and cursed battlefields worthy of adventures of their own.
Here are the top picks from our Fantasy Maps library for ten locations in and around Absalom, from its busiest markets to the blighted wastelands surrounding it where the enemies of gods fell.
1. The Coins — Black Market Streets

By day, the Coins is Absalom’s busiest market district, with hawkers and haggling customers packing its streets. By night, its seedier corners, like the notorious Misery Row, become havens for pickpockets and thieves.
This Black Market Streets map is a fantastic pick for one of the Coin’s many bazaars, its colorful stalls and awnings spilling out from the ruins of an old broken-down building—perfect for a bustling daytime market, or swap to the night variant for when the sun goes down.
2. The Puddles — Slum District

Once a district prone to flooding, the Puddles has spent the last decade sinking further, its streets now covered in water up to a human’s thigh. Residents who refuse to leave have strung together a tangled network of makeshift bridges and walkways between its closely packed buildings.
This Slum District map is hard to beat for capturing that half-drowned degradation well, with its patched corrugated rooftops, smoking chimneys, and filthy-looking canal winding between rundown homes. It’s a great fit for a fugitive’s hideout, or a run-in with the underbelly of Absalom.

This map also comes with an illustrated animated scene that brings the district’s hazy, waterlogged decay to life.
3. The Docks — Low Town Docks

Hundreds of ships from across Golarion dock in Absalom’s harbor every day, their cargo flowing through a teeming waterfront of taverns, flophouses, and warehouses.
This Low Town Docks map leans right into that lived-in, working harbor feel, with its colorful mismatched rooftops, ramshackle piers, and small boats moored along a scattered, debris-strewn beach. It’s a strong choice for a dockside brawl or a smuggler’s meetup.
4. The Wise Quarter, Forae Logos — Demonic Library (Endless Halls)

Absalom’s reputation as a center of learning goes back to its earliest days, and the Wise Quarter holds the best of it all, including the great library of Forae Logos, which draws knowledge-hungry scholars from all over the world.
The Endless Halls variant of this Demonic Library is a striking pick for a library that holds far more in its shelves than it lets on, with rows of dark wood stacks and plush purple carpet stretching out as far as the eye can see. A great pick for when your party needs to dive head-first into some quiet research.
5. Foreign Quarter, Irorium — Colosseum of Challenges

The largest open-air arena on the Inner Sea, the Irorium hosts gladiatorial combats, mock-sea battles, and religious pageants nearly every day. Its gladiators count themselves among Absalom’s most celebrated citizens.
This Colosseum of Challenges map delivers all the drama that the Irorium’s reputation deserves—with tiered stone seating built for a crowd and sprawling bright red awnings framing massive statues. Use the original variant for a classic gladiator showdown, or use one of its many variants to host any number of interesting games, from kraken-filled waters to blazing fire trials.

This map also comes with an illustrated animated scene that captures the full spectacle of a long-awaited fight at the Irorium.
6. Escadar, St. Sarnax — Golden Cathedral Rooftops (Nature)

Escadar was once home to St. Sarnax, a monastery and training academy for the Knights of the Aeon Star. Only three elderly knights remain to tend it today, though the white marble monastery is said to still shine as brightly as it did in Aroden’s time.
The nature variant of this Golden Cathedral Rooftops map offers a grand, sun-lit vision of that forgotten legacy, with domed gold roofs and stone battlements set against lush green plains.
7. The Cairnlands — Medusa’s Wake (Fog)

The barren wasteland surrounding Absalom is littered with the ruins of five millennia of failed invasions—from siege castles and a mile-tall shattered spire to crumbling, half-buried ruins now home to monsters, brigands, and the restless dead.
This Medusa’s Wake map captures the desolated, haunted quality of these wastelands well, with shattered rubble and foggy terrain broken only by a narrow bridge and crumbling statue of a fallen warrior. It’s a great fit for an eerie travel encounter, or the discovery of a forgotten secret among thousands.
8. Dunmire — Banshee Moor (Fog)

North of the Kortos Mounts, the land sinks into the Dunmire, a vast bog wrapped in fog thick enough to swallow a traveler whole. Absalom’s own guard long ago gave up trying to patrol the treacherous land, leaving isolated outcasts, kobolds, and hags to make their home in the mire undisturbed.
This Banshee Moor map is a moody and atmospheric fit for this area, with its murky water and an overturned cart hinting at whoever passed through last (and almost certainly didn’t make it out). It’s a strong backdrop for a party encounter with whatever’s been left to fester in the fog.
9. Immenwood — Depths of the Festerwood

The vast, primordial Immenwood has supplied Absalom with lumber for centuries, but its wilder reaches shelter outlaws and monsters just as easily as loggers. Deeper still, the forest grows older, craggier, and far less welcoming.
This Depths of the Festerwood map brings that deeper, more sinister side of the forest to life, with twisted roots, withered trunks, and a sickly orange fungal growth that seems to devour anything it touches.

This map also comes with an illustrated animated scene that lets the forest’s eerie stillness fully settle in.
10. Tyrant’s Grasp — Candlestair Shrine (Darkness)

The site of the Whispering Tyrant’s defeat is a blasted wasteland of necromantic corruption stretching for miles northeast of Absalom. The lich’s skeletal hand is still said to remain there, refusing to loosen its grip on the isle and drawing cultists who believe their master’s return is only a matter of time.
The Darkness variant of this Candlestair Shrine map is a gorgeous and unsettling centerpiece for the region—a once-beautiful white stone shrine now swallowed by creeping waves of necromantic shadow crawling across its courtyard. A perfect setting for a Whispering Way ritual your party might stumble into.
