Much of the allure of jungle campaign settings lies in their ability to immerse players—literally—in an environment teeming with life, danger, and mystery. From vibrant flora to ancient civilizations, jungles can set the scene for adventures that are both exotic and unpredictable.

The challenges posed by dense foliage, elusive wildlife, and long-lost secrets can provide hours of entertainment and excitement for any D&D party that enjoys exploration and combat.
In this continuation of our Jungle Adventure series, we’ll be diving deeper into the heart of the rainforest, with a new selection of even more breathtaking maps and thrilling scenarios to enrich your tropical campaign. For each map, we’ve provided a descriptive overview, some immersive “boxed text” you can read to set the scene, and three suggested scenarios to kickstart your imagination.
Whether you’re a seasoned GM or you’re embarking on your first campaign, this article is here to help you tell the unforgettable tropical tale your table deserves.
6. The Stranded Casino

The Stranded Casino is a sight your players don’t see every day: a casino aboard a carrack ship stranded amidst the lush greenery of a jungle! A grounded ship that was turned into a vibrant casino, this exotic location attracts natives, sailors, and adventurers alike.
The ship has multiple floors—all hand-drawn, mapped and ready to use—each boasting a distinct atmosphere and challenge, from high-stakes gambling tables to hidden treasures. In all, it’s the perfect setting for a dynamic and memorable detour from your wilderness adventure.
💡 As you push through the dense jungle foliage, an extraordinary sight comes into view: a massive carrack ship, its hull firmly wedged among the towering trees. Standing defiant against the jungle’s embrace, the ship’s masts rise above the canopy, lanterns flickering warmly along the deck. The sounds of laughter, clinking coins, and distant exclamations of excitement drift through the air, as though welcoming you aboard.
Suggested Encounters
- Turn of Fortune’s Wheel: The party stumbles upon this strange sight of a ship - turned - casino nestled in the jungle, and decides to explore. As they partake in the games and mingle with the eclectic mix of patrons, they might learn secrets and test their luck, or even stumble upon the hidden treasure in the basement.
- Bodyguard Business: The party has been hired to protect a high-profile VIP visiting the casino. They must ensure the VIP’s safety and address potential threats from sore losers, jealous rivals, or nefarious assassins.
- High-Stakes Heist: The party has been hired to infiltrate the casino and steal a valuable item from the treasure hoard in the brig. They’ll need to blend in with the rest of the patrons, navigate through the different floors—perhaps by winning games—and outwit the casino’s security.
7. Tropical Island Village

This Tropical Island Village transports your party to a breath of fresh air, literally—a serene and idyllic coastal settlement. Nestled on a gentle hill overlooking azure waters, this village features charming grass-roofed huts, fish hanging out to dry, and rowboats ready for a day’s work.
It’s certainly the kind of peaceful setting that’s perfect for a moment’s respite amidst your party’s exciting adventures—and perhaps a good place to set up a home base and establish a close-knit community that your players can get attached to.
💡 The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore frames the sight of grass-roofed huts scattered across the hillside. Fish hang out to dry in the warm sun, and several rowboats are lined up near the beach, ready for the day’s fishing trips. Amidst the bustle of excited chatter, villagers tend to their daily tasks with a relaxed grace.
Suggested Encounters
- Rogue Beast: A wild beast from the jungle has been terrorizing the village at night. The party has been hired to track down and deal with the creature to ensure the villagers' safety. The nature of the beast—and reason why it’s become so territorial lately—could even tie into a bigger storyline.
- Pirate Attack: Rumors of a pirate attack have reached the village—or perhaps a group of pirates has already been extorting or threatening the villagers.
- Corrupted Catches: The villagers’ fish are coming up corrupted, poisoned, or even mutated—threatening their food supply and livelihood. The party must investigate the cause, exploring coastal waters and searching the jungles for toxins, malicious curses, or even sabotage from villains.
8. Mountain Monastery — Jungle

This Mountain Monastery—Jungle map presents a breathtaking and serene view: a beautiful monastery perched atop a high cliff, accessible only by a giant living root bridge.
Traditional Tengu statues, massive and imposing, guard the bridge, painting the image of a sacred place steeped in deep lore and legend—one that’s sure to give your players a stage ripe for spiritual adventures and profouned discoveries.
💡 As you approach the edge of the cliff, the sight of the magnificent mountain monastery takes your breath away. A giant, gnarled root bridge stretches before you, flanked by imposing statues of Tengu guardians. Their watchful eyes seem to follow you as you pass.
Suggested Encounters
- Guardians’ Challenge: To gain entry to the monastery, the party might need to prove their worth—perhaps to the Tengu guardians themselves. This might involve a series of verbal, spiritual, or physical challenges that test the party’s knowledge, wisdom, and strength.
- Trials of Worth: The party might have arrived at the monastery seeking an answer from the monks to lift a curse or cure a disease afflicting themselves or a beloved NPC. However, the inhabitants of the temple might be unwilling to give away their sacred knowledge and ask the party to undergo a series of trials designed to test their virtue.
- The Withering: Alternatively, perhaps the temple itself has not escaped the curse. The natural life around the monastery is withering, and the monks might be desperate for help in uncovering the source of this blight and restoring the natural balance.
9. Monster Hunter Restaurant

For a change of pace from the verdant wilderness, this Monster Hunter Restaurant map opens the doors to a lush and opulent establishment where the exotic and extravagant meet. This lavish restaurant, adorned with statues of monsters and filled with the finest ingredients from creatures of all kinds, clearly caters to the elite who seek a taste of the extraordinary.
The map itself is filled to the brim with gorgeous detail, with tons of points of interest for the party to interact with. It also offers numerous points of entry and exit, as well as paths for sneaking around, making for tons of opportunities for creative heists and daring raids.
💡 The grandeur of the restaurant was already clear to the eye from the outside, but as you step inside, its opulence becomes all the more apparent. Statues of dragons, krakens, and other mythical creatures stand silent sentinels, and the air is rich with the aroma of exotic dishes being prepared. The dining hall is full with the excited bustle of guests, each dining with fine china and under crystal chandeliers, while the restaurant’s staff moves with practiced grace across the scarlet carpet.
Suggested Encounters
- Monster Cook-off: In celebration of a festival or holiday, the restaurant is hosting a cooking competition featuring only ingredients sourced from exotic jungle creatures. The party must hunt down a beast and impress the head chef of the restaurant to win a valuable prize.
- Diner Heist: The party has been hired to poison a specific dish meant for a dangerous guest, or perhaps steal a valuable ingredient from the pantries. The party will need to infiltrate the restaurant, posing as cooks or waitstaff, then execute a daring heist using distraction, stealth, and cunning.
- Nature’s Revenge: The wanton hunting and poaching of mythical creatures has taken its toll, and the weight of all the slain creatures haunts the lavish establishment. The party has been tasked with uncovering the source of the curse and putting an end to it, restoring the natural balance once and for all.
10. Temple of the Couatl

And last but certainly not least, this Temple of the Couatl creates a unique, atmospheric experience. Though there’s already a jungle temple on this list, unlike its counterpart, this temple features a time-worn, ravaged structure amid the ruins of an ancient city—partly flooded and slowly being reclaimed by nature.
This majestic ziggurat also boasts a distinct Aztec-inspired architectural style and a fully furnished, hand-drawn interior map, including intricate dungeon encounter rooms and a formidable altar room arena fit for an unforgettable boss fight.
💡 Even from afar, the sight of the Temple of the Couatl’s towering ziggurats emerges from the dense jungle. Vines and roots creep over the stone structure as it rises from the pools of shimmering water. The air itself seems to hum with an arcane, ancient energy, thick with the scent of damp earth and verdant greenery. Mosaics and carvings of an ancient, monstrous creature adorn the temple’s crumbling stone walls. In the flickering torchlight, the shadows cast upon the carvings seem to shift and move—almost as though they are watching your every move.
Suggested Encounters
Here are some ideas for the rooms included in the Temple of the Couatl — Interior dungeon map.
- Sticky Trouble: The room’s floor is covered with a thick, undulating layer of slime, and the walls glisten with a strange, viscous substance. Corrosive oozes and elementals might reside here as a result of a ritual gone wrong, or a crack between the planes, forcing the party to risk losing their gear to the acid.
- Ravine Crossing: A vast, dark ravine cuts through the heart of the temple, its depths obscured by swirling mists. Screeches seem to emanate from the abyss below. Winged creatures might make their nests around and in the walls of the chasm, and fly up to attack the players as they’re trying to make their way across.
- The Failed Ritual: One chamber is dominated by an ancient ritual circle carved into the stone floor, surrounded by piles of skeletal remains. This is a prime location for necromantic and desecrated creatures—left behind or created by the dark ritual—to emerge and attack the party: such as undead or grotesque golems.
